How Healing Comes – Avenue #3 (continued)

The power of words, or declaration, is one of the most effective means of obtaining healing. It is not surprising since Jesus Himself is the Living Word. In John 1:1 it states:

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning.

We also know that the earth was created through God’s faith-filled words. It makes sense therefore, that Jesus’ ministry contained many instances where healing came through declaration. For example, the leper was healed by Jesus through a declaration in Mark 1,

40 A man with leprosy came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean. 41 Filled with compassion, Jesus reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clean!” 42 Immediately the leprosy left him and he was cured.

Jesus is our highest and best model for ministry, as He ministered as an anointed man, not as the Son of God. Here, we see His declaration,” Be clean!”

Again, why is declaration so powerful? In Proverbs 18:21,it says, “the tongue has the power of life and death”. There is creative power in words, as well as destructive power. Psalm 107: 20 reads:

He sent forth his word and healed them; he rescued them from the grave.

In this case, we see the power of words to effect healing. Also in Isaiah 5:10, we see:

As the rain and the snow come down from heaven, and do not return to it without watering the earth and making it bud and flourish, so that it yields seed for the sower and bread for the eater, so is my word that goes out from my mouth: It will not return to me empty, but will accomplish what I desire and achieve the purpose for which I sent it.

These give us a powerful motivation to use this third avenue to receive healing and other miracles-the power of faith-filled declarations.
