How Healing Comes – Avenues #12 and #13

We have so far seen eleven methods by which the Lord provides healing. I never quite understood how folks can read the same Bible as I do and not see healing in it. Let’s go back into the Old Testament in order to read about the 12th and 13th ways by which healing is provided, namely: through our response to a Prophetic Word and/or a Word of Wisdom. Naaman the Syrian came to Israel seeking healing for leprosy and was sent to Elijah in 2 Kings 5:8,

When Elisha the man of God heard that the king of Israel had torn his robes, he sent him this message: “Why have you torn your robes? Have the man come to me and he will know that there is a prophet in Israel.” 9 So Naaman went with his horses and chariots and stopped at the door of Elisha’s house. 10 Elisha sent a messenger to say to him, “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan, and your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed.”

Naaman was told by the prophet to perform a specific act, washing seven times in the River Jordan. This was the Word of Wisdom, or taking a specific action i.e., “Go, wash yourself seven times in the Jordan”. He did as he was told and received his healing, through the prophetic word i.e., “…your flesh will be restored and you will be cleansed..

Interestingly, the approach taken in the ministry of Jesus and the apostles was typically one or the other of these approaches  i.e., either a prophetic Word or a Word of Wisdom. I will discuss this in my next post. Have you seen or experienced healing through either  a Prophetic Word or a Word of Wisdom?
